Bar Reviews > Hong Kong
by Suresh R Hollywood Road Hong Kong Island
A very small pub on Hollywood Road, Hong Kong Island (on the way to the mid
levels). There's this stone lane (more of a staircase) that leads down to another
road (Queens Road) - and Apres is by that lane, tucked away sort of.
Small, quiet bar with excellent service, really good waitresses and a bartender who knows how to mix a perfect margharita, served at just the right chill, in a salt rimmed and frosted glass. Heavenly, especially when HK is at its hottest and humidest (temperature around 25 to 30 deg C, but 85 to 90% humidity). They have a rather decent selection of cocktails (including a few weirdly named ones ... some of which looked quite strong to me, with bourbon / whisky bases, and a wide range of rum based stuff - including at least four daiquiris). Assorted mass market beers (Heineken, Carlsberg, Sol, Bud ... nothing too special or out of the ordinary). A pretty decent selection, all said. The food is not bad at all either (a good mix - mexican stuff like tacos and nachos, some pasta, steaks, some pretty good seafood - try their bowl of mussels in wine sauce ...). The music is quite good (soft rock mostly, pretty decent). Rather steep prices though, which is to be expected as the place is in the mid-levels area. |
